What is coaching? Coaching is not counseling. Whereas counseling focuses on the client's ability to discuss past events and develop change models, coaching focuses on the ability to initiate change promoted by the client-coach process. I will not tell you what to do, but only reflect on what you have told me is important for you to do. I will serve as a mirror and director to assist you in accomplishing those goals you have listed for your life. Coaching is healthy because the client is the major focus and is primarily responsible for generating solutions/recommendations for change. As a coach, I will ask you what is next and together, we can make the next step. I will be a mentor and guide you to your destination. I will be constructively critical and expect you to achieve those reasonable goals you set for yourself.
